This is my first pregnancy and I am almost 38 weeks and very ready to deliver and see our little man. So I am wondering if I am psyching myself out because during my entire pregnancy I have not had any kind of cramping or indications of labor (BH or otherwise) until this morning. Driving into work I start feeling little crampling feelings all over my belly and some back/chest pain. Nothing too painful just a feeling like having a tummy ache. Last week the doc told me I was thinning but no dialation. I have my next appointment tomorrow afternoon and am hoping for some progress. I guess my question is, does it sound like I may be having some kind of contraction (BH or otherwise) and once your cervix starts thinning does that mean we are getting close? Or am I just getting my hopes up?
Re: Question - from a first time mom
From everything I've been reading & experiencing, you might just be getting your hopes up. Four nights ago I felt like I had contractions for a few hours in the middle of the night that were spaced about 10-20 minutes apart. Plus I've had lots of cramping and contractions since (and for weeks before) but nothing consistent. I think we just need to be patient!
On the flip side to this, I am about 50% effaced and 1cm without ANY cramps... so cramps aren't the only sign!
I think I am just getting my hopes up. I really want to meet my son and am so excited that I keep looking for any kind of sign.
He will get here when he gets here. Thanks for the responses. Good luck everyone!
