So I have a question about shrimp. I know there are certain fishes to avoid during pregnancy and some that are ok to eat in moderation. We are going out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants on Saturday and my favorite dish there has shrimp in it?I keep looking on the internet to see if it is safe. Anyone have any opinions or heard from there doctor about if it is safe to eat? I can always call my doctor but I thought I would start with you ladies since so many of you have so much wonderful information! Thanks!

From everything I've seen/heard shrimp (fully cooked) is actually good for you during pregnancy. It's on the list of seafood you should try to eat once to twice a week.
Really you're only going to be avoiding certain types of fish/undercooked fish/undercooked seafood.
Let me see if I can find the link again.
But you should be good to go!
Yep - you want to avoid anything high in mercury (tuna, swordfish, etc) and obviously anything raw.

My doctor said shrimp is okay, and actually recommended.
She said a rule of thumb is to stay clear of larger fish, since they live longer and can absorb more mercury...such as shark, albacore tuna, etc. Also, the darker the fish, the more mercury.
