Stupid question about seafood

Are scallops considered a shellfish?  Our pedi said no shellfish until Stella is 2 but I've been thinking about trying to make scallops at home, maybe for New Years day.

    Yep- they're shellfish. I don't think a taste would hurt at her age...

    Yeah, scallops are shellfish.  Does she have other allergies or risk factors for food allergies?  If not, it wouldn't be a huge worry for me.  I only waited until 1 or so let them have seafood.  Bri loves scallops.
