Wubbanub - If You Use One

Do they actually help keep the pacifier in your LOs mouth?  Or is it just something for them to hold on to and makes it easier for them to find when it does fall out?

I am considering ordering it to try from Amazon (sitting in my shopping cart as I type) and I just wanted to hear from moms who use it and what they opinion of them are.

Thanks!

  • LOL, I just recommended this in the post below.  Yes, it really does help keep the pacifier in the mouth.

  • I bought one for DS, but he didnt really like the soothies to much. BUT because it WAS a soothie, and not an open style pacifier, I was able to save it, wash, sanitize it and use it for DD, who actually prefers the soothies!

I only use it when supervised just in case, but it's great for the car rides to daycare because it lays across her chest and is easier to put back in when it does fall out. We have the puppy one Smile

  • Mine will put his hands on it which kind of holds it in plus if it falls out they can mouth around for it. It's cute to see them hold it. Downsides are its a soothie and he likes nuks...also sometimes his hands work against him and pull on the animal and it comes out.

  • It actually helps it stay in DD's mouth. On longer trips, I tuck it under her blanket with her for extra staying support.

DD loves to hold onto it. She's extremely attached to her wubbanubs. DD won't use anything other than a soothie.

  • No, it doesn't help even if you tuck it into the blanket as someone said.  Both DS and DD had/have trouble keeping it in.  I used to swaddle DD and it still didn't help because she would turn her head and out it would fall because it was tucked into the blanket. DS doesn't like to be swaddled and his flailing arms always seem to catch the animal pulling it out.

However, the animal does make it easier for them to put it back into their mouth when they are very young.  DD used to get it back in her mouth by grabbing onto the animal and figuring it out from there.  Also, when DD could not get the pacifier in her mouth she would just cuddle up with the animal and she was content that way when she was younger.  I also love that they are much more difficult to lose than traditional pacifiers.

  • Meh..I guess so, but not consistently well. My LO seems to like the softness of the animal (a puppy!) so that is also soothing to him. I agree that its really cute to see them hold onto it (even if you're helping them Wink)

  • Baby girl and I love our wubanub (ducky)!  In fact, I was thinking of getting the giraffe.  Baby girl has only been given a soothie and loves it.  :-)  IMO it helps to stay in her mouth and she loves to cuddle with it already!  :-)

  • Depends on the wubbanub. For the Dragon yes the caterpiller has an odd way of attaching and it always seems to fall out. HOWEVER it does keep the soothie from bouncing away.
