Success after IF

Glucose test tomorrow. What should I eat for dinner?

I can't remember if I should eat carbs or avoid them. It's at 8:30 tomorrow morning so no eating after midnight. Any other tips you can remember?

(I avoided carbs last time, but I don't remember any "rules" or if they even help)

  • I thought it was eat a protein heavy meal...but I just ate like I would normally...i figured, as much GD would suck, I'd rather know for sure!
  • Just eat normal today, tonight's dinner won't affect the morning's blood sugar reading in any meaningful way.

    Good luck.

  • I honestly don't think it matters.

I didn't have to fast and I actually ate a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch that morning because I was starving and didn't have time to make something carb/sugar free.  I passed.

  • I avoided carbs and was allowed to eat in the morning so I had 2 scrambled eggs-- no carbs at all.

    Good luck!!

  • Eat your normal dinner.  You want your GTT results to reflect your true diet.  If you don't have GD, what you eat won't matter.

  • I don't have to fast with mine, or avoid any certain foods.

  • I would just try not to go heavy on carbs.  Oh and I was told not to eat past 9 pm.
  • I don't think it matters if you avoid carbs or not.  If you have GD, you have it.  Your numbers are based on your reaction to the glucose drink.
