Dh's latest girl suggestion: Luna

I mean, we are laid-back and we gravitate more toward hippie-ish names than buttoned up formal names, but Luna?  With what as a middle name....Moon Unit?

I think he's fired from this process. Stick out tongue

    In my town I know at least 5 dogs named Luna, no people though.

    I hate to tell him this but when I hear Luna the next thought in my mind is "lunatic"...not the best association :(

    This is one of my guilty pleasure names, but any time I bring it up with someone other than DH, it gets Luna-tic comments. And, I also know two people with dogs named Luna.

    It's beautiful but I definitely wouldn't use it on a little girl. I love the name Nova and would be very tempted to use it for a daughter (guilty pleasure name) so we gave it to the cat instead haha.

    I don't know if you remember the colombian singer Juanes (la camisa negra), however he's daughter name is Luna and he even wrote a song with that title for her

    Is a sweet name but I'd never use it, way too hippish for my taste (also because of the lunatic reference)

    It's NMS but I've certainly hear a lot worse. It does sound like a dog name though.

    Luna is the name of a flooring company around here that has tons of stupid low-budget commercials on all the time with an obnoxious jingle to go along with it.

    If not for all that, I might actually like it a little.

    This is probably not what you want to hear, but I don't really mind Luna. It's kinda pretty in a crunchy-hippie sort of way.

    Luna will be our next (hypothetical) daughter's name. :) I love it. I gravitate more towards hippie names too, but I don't think this one is too outlandish.

    Luna is one of my guilty pleasure names. It sounds nice, feminine, sweet, it has a nice meaning... And I associate it with a favorite HP character. I would love to meet a little Luna. That said, the immediate association with the word lunatic makes me not want to use it. Sad.

    I love Luna. It's #343 on the SSA name list, and that means it's more common than Ruth, Sasha, Lilliana, April, Jane, and Bridget. So it's not that 'out there' at all. :)

    I know a very cute little girl named Luna. but I think the moon/lunatic association is too much. Think Luna Lovegood. I like Lena though. Have you considered that?
