Nanny taxes

One more question! Do those of you with a nanny do the taxes yourself or use a service? I have found a few services online but they seem kind of pricey for something that may be pretty easy for us to do ourselves or is it? Any tips for me?

Re: Nanny taxes

  • I use Intuit Online Payroll, it has a monthly fee but is easy to use for taxes and basic payroll.  I know that it can be done without the service but I like the convenience of the site.

Thanks! I'm so sad they won't be able to wear those onesies again. Never thought I would get sentimental about baby clothing haha!

  • If everything else you have is straightforward, I think you can do them yourself.  The first year I tried to pay federal taxes quarterly, but that got all messed up.  After that, I didn't pay and hoped that I had paid enough federal taxes at my job (I always did.)
  • I'm in TX, so we have no state taxes...that aside, I did tax calculations and  witholdings myself. Set myself up with an EFTPS account for monthly deposits of taxes to IRS and quarterly filings. I have an excel spreadsheet that I use for each weekly paycheck that has the calculations for that pay period as well as a set for YTD calculations. This is printed out as nanny's earning statement.
