We have some traditional ball ornaments that we just keep in their original boxes and put into Rubbermaid tubs for storage. But all of the random ornaments we have just get put into a gift bag and separated by tissue paper. I need a better system. We're going to stop by the Christmas Tree Shop after work tonight to see if they have anything. What do you use to store your ornaments?

Re: How do you store your ornaments?
This is what I have. We got it from christmas tree shop a few years back pretty cheap. They have nicer heavier duty ones at walmart, target, home depot also.
We keep them all in boxes that have layers with dividers.
That being said, I only put metal, plastic, or wood ornaments on the tree, because the kids go to town touching every single thing on the tree, taking them off, etc. Those, I tend to err, just throw in one big box in a tangled mess... I just don't have the time.

in totes
glass ball ornaments- mostly in the box they came in
hallmark ornaments- in their original boxes
misc ornaments- wrapped in tussue paper, some in small boxes they were bought in (i.e. old world or small bonton boxes)
i saw on pinterest the idea of using egg cartons
We just use a rubbermaid container and wrap them in bubble wrap. I looked into the fancy shmancy ornament containers, but all of ours are personalized or oddly shaped ones and the holders just didn't look like they would work for ours. The rubbermaid container seems to be working wonderously.
