Infantino Carrier

So I was browing baby bjorns on amazon, and I stumbled upon a much cheaper carrier with pretty decent reviews. I'm referencing the Infantino carrier. Has anybody used these carriers previously? Are they a good carrier or only good for the money? Honest opinions are welcomed!

Re: Infantino Carrier

  • You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to carriers.  The cheap ones tend to be poorly designed, have low weight limits, and aren't comfortable for you or the baby.  That means they won't get much use so even though they were cheap, so you still wasted money.

That being said, I would avoid Baby Bjorn carriers altogether.  Most of them have the baby hanging by their crotch, which can be bad for their hips.  They're really uncomfortable for the wearer too, especially as the baby gets bigger.  You can only use them comfortably for short stretches of time and they're way overpriced.  If you want a structured carrier, I highly recommend getting an Ergo, Boba, or Beco.  They're cheaper, way more comfortable, and you will get tons of use out of them.

I had a Moby when DS was a newborn and then switched to an Ergo Sport around 5 months.  I still use it a lot and I could comfortably wear him all day at 18 months and 26 lbs.

  • Is it the pouch style Infantino carrier? Because those were actually recalled and that particular style of carrier can actually be very dangerous because the position that they put baby in carries a significant risk of asphyxiation.  The PP's recommendation of soft structured carriers are all high quality, comfortable, and safe to use.  Also look into woven wraps, like the Moby, or ring slings.  Getting them used can help if cost is a large factor in your decision.
  • The Infantino carriers are just as bad as the Bjorns when it comes to the ergonomics.  Just stay away.

I have one. I paid $12 for it new at a consignment sale.  I use it for walks and at the grocery store.  I have no complaints thus far.   Now with that said I would not pay $50 for it.

  • My cousin gave me a hand-me-down infantino carrier and I hated it. It was difficult to get on and off, the clips were all half broken, and I couldn't make it tight enough around my hips to support DD (granted, I am a small person, but not oddly small).

And ditto the others about them being ergonomically crappy. Try an Ergo or Beco. They're worth the money.
