NBR: I love my Husband but... bittersweet

So for christmas my husband had a dozen roses delivered.  LOVE THEM.  A few months ago I made a statement that he never suprises me with anything anymore like flowers so I know it was his way of saying "i'm listening".  Again I love them, I thanked him over and over. 

But... we are broke, barely making it.  We are falling behind on bills by 1-2 each month (apx 100$).  So the flowers go through the bank account today (wasn't expecting it, thought they were already paid for)  79$  WTH.... I love him but he is so careless with money.  I can't vent to him because it would break his heart and he was only thinking about giving me something I would love.  They are in the living room displayed for all to see but now I can't pay our phone bill.  I had to ask my mom to pay it.  It's so bittersweet.

    That is lovely and sucky.  I'm in your not paying the bills boat.  I feel ya.

    Aww, that is sweet of him to surprise you, but it sucks that it made you have to borrow money.  I hope you guys can get back on track soon!

    I really feel you on this :/ We can barely pay our bills either and my boyfriend and I had our six year anniversary on the 16th.  I thought going out for that could be a special thing combined with Christmas and he said ok.  Well Christmas morning he surprised me with some very nice makeup and said that he wanted me to have something nice because I don't ever buy thing for myself anymore.  It was really nice and I love them, but because of taking that money out we are 65$ short for our rent for January.  I know he was trying to do something special but I hate that we are so broke that even being nice causes more stress.
