DH is researching child care options. I work from home, but am tied to the computer and on the phone constantly. His latest idea is to get a nanny for 6 hours, and when she leaves, I'll put the twins down for a nap. This sounds insane to me...the odds of getting them on the same schedule every day, within 30 min wiggle room? I envision them either not going down, or waking up sooner than the 2.5 hours I will have remaining in my work day.

Nope..it is not possible. I am in the same situation as you, I work from home and am on the phone most of the day (tech support) and in fact my DH brought up this exact scenario to me while I was pregnant.
Right now we have my mom watching our girls during the day, she is our nanny. The first few months when they would take longer naps, they weren't at an exact time of day for an exact length so it still wasn't possible then. And now its even more impossible, as they nap only 30 minutes a day, some days they refuse certain times or naps, and each day can differ.
You will need to find an alternate solution. GL!
I get you there. My DH is an artist. I've worked in law firms for the past 10 years. We have slightly different opinions on what works with the kids too sometimes.
If your schedule is flexible it could work. But you for sure can't plan on the kids to stay consistent. Even though mine have had relatively consistent schedules/naptime etc. it seems whenever I need to get something done, they have issues getting to sleep, get sick or some other change in routine.

Sorry, that is not going to happen. The babies dictate when they want to sleep. Even the most rigid mothers who have a strict schedule, sometimes can't get their kids down.
but it's cute to think that it would work.
Ditto this! You also can't bank on having kids who will nap for 2.5 hrs. Mine took naps around that length for a good long time but I've known of plenty of LOs who would only nap for 1-2 hrs (sometimes less). If you dont have flexibility with your job, I really wouldn't recommend it. But you can start with having a nanny there for the whole time and see how it goes. I just think you can't predict that with any certainty now.
That's what I told him. He was like, but look at your sister, he daughter goes down at the some time every day......she is 2 years old, and there is only one of her!
