Food Allergy

New (sorry kind of long)

Hi! I have a 3 year old that has no allergies and a 10 month old with allergies. At about 6 weeks she developed awful eczema. Took her to the pedi several times and they kept saying it was normal. I was ebf and decided to eliminate dairy for 3 weeks. Eczema got better but not great. At about 7 months I had decided to stop bf and gave her first bottle of half bm and half formula. Well 30 min later we were in the er. She had hives from head to toe and there was mucous pouring out of her nose. Gave her nutramigen and saw an allergist about 2 weeks later and he gave me  creams for her eczema and she was a whole new baby! It was amazing! He tested for dairy and soy. Both came back positive but soy was not as bad as dairy and he was concerned it may be a false positive. Dr also suggested staying away from eggs until further testing. We go back in 3 weeks for a soy challenge

We were also starting solids at the same time. Just by trial and error I think she has an issue with apples and pears and gluten as well. She basically eats rice pasta, rice, chicken, squash and carrots.

Now getting to my question, the past 2 weeks her eczema is coming back, she has an awful rash on her girly parts (she gets this same rash when she eats apples and pears) and her eyes look black around the outside. I just don't know what it could be. I feel like she is reacting to something and not sure what. I also don't think she really eats anything that she could be reacting to.

Any ideas and suggestions would be helpful. TIA!

  • I also should add we tried baby oatmeal and did great on it, we switched to regular oatmeal and I know this seems silly but I feel like she was reacting to it. So fro breakfast I switched her back to rice cereal and banana.

  • Oats are often processed with wheat flour.  If she's got a gluten issue, make sure you are buying oats specifically marked as being gluten free!  It makes a huge difference for me (I've been gf for 5 years now).  Unfortunately, gluten has lots of little hiding places.
