Introduction and napping issues

Hi everyone.  I decided to stop lurking and join in.  My name is Rachel and I live in Highspire with my husband and 10 month old son Brendan.  We are getting really excited for his first Christmas!!!  Does anyone have suggestions for a baby that refuses to nap without being held.  Not that I don't love to hold my son but I do have a house to clean.  Any help would be awesome.

    Welcome! Unfortunately this board has been pretty dead lately.  Have you let him cry it out/hang out in his crib till he goes to bed?  That has always (well, since swaddling) been our solution to our sleep issues.

    My daughter was the same way.  However, I have no answer for you as we never figured out one ourselves!!!  I ended up putting her in a sling and would continue about my business that way while she slept.  Good luck.

    I'm a little late replying, but we used the book The No Cry Nap Solution and it worked wonderfully.  It was a lot of work, but worth it. 
    BFP #1: m/c at 8 weeks; BFP #2: DD born 6/9/09; BFP #3 m/c at 5 weeks; BFP #4 m/c at 8 weeks, D&E; BFP #5 DS born 8/12/12

    For better or worse the only thing that worked for us was CIO. I tried probably 3 or 4 different no-cry solutions and nothing worked so we let her cry. She STILL cries when she naps and goes to bed at night but luckily its usually not very long--probably 5 minutes or less. She certainly cries less emphatically at both bedtime and naptime if we wind down a little and read a couple books, rock for a minute or two, maybe sing a song etc. Whatever you decide on, stay consistent in both the routine and the approximate time of the nap.

    CIO worked for us too.  I can't even really say she cries much.  It's more annoyed fussing for a few minutes.  If that doesn't work I put her in her carseat and swing it.  That puts her out!
