I am starting to gather a list of items now, even though it might be too early for me (just in my 14th week). I figured I would start with the big items, and started researching strollers this weekend. I have to say as a FTM, it is very overwhemling!
I think I want a travel stroller system and a jogger. Or even better one that works as both, if that exists. Any recommendations? What features should I be looking for? Any advice is appreciated. TIA!
Re: Recommend your Travel Stroller System
You could do a BOB jogger with a carseat adapter, but the BOB is pretty bulky for running around and taking it in and out of the vehicle. So in addition to the BOB you could get a snap and go which is basically a stroller frame that folds up compact and is easy to take out of the vehicle and snap the carseat into it. Otherwise, if you have more of a budget you could get a second full-size stroller in addition to the BOB jogger. I have a City Mini and highly recommend it. You can get a carseat adapter and then use it as a travel system. The city mini is a nice little compact stroller that is really easy to set-up, and to fold. It maneuvers very nicely. Britax has the B-Agile stroller which is essentially the same as the City Mini and also gets great reviews. This is how I would go if I wanted to have a jogger in the mix. Just remember that you won't actually be able to jog with an infant, I believe until they are closer to a year old so you might want to hold off on that big ticket purchase until later on. Although BOB strollers are also really nice for walking outside!
Travel systems suck - they're usually big and bulky and aren't great quality - their only redeeming quality is matching fabric which doesn't add up to a whole lot in my book
I opted for the City Select stroller wIth adapter for the Peg Perego viaggio sip car seat.
I'm only at 20 weeks, but I've been researching strollers for months because it was so overwhelming! I just settled on the Britax B-Agile with the Britax B-Safe carseat, which I love because it feels to me like it has most all of the benefits of a giant traditional travel-system (good size, comfortable, sturdy, etc.) while being much lighter and easier to maneuver in crowds like a lightweight stroller. As an added bonus, I can use it for jogging (since I'm not a heavy jogger, it is NOT a jogging stroller, most three-wheeled strollers aren't technically, but does have a lockable front wheel and good suspension system, so for my light use on a track I think it will be fine)!
Best advice, though, go to the store and push everything around. You'll be amazed at the differences you find/feel!! What you think you want will end up feeling lousy, and what you never considered will be perfect.

Another vote for the B-safe carseat and B-agile stroller by Britax. That's what we've registered for as our everyday stroller.
I'm planning on re-evaluating our need for a jogging stroller once baby is a few months old. If I decide I'm taking long and frequent enough walks, or if DH wants to run with him, we'll look for a BOB at a consignment shop or on Craigslist. They regularly pop up there, and since neither of us are daily runners, we don't want to shell out full price right off the bat.
This!
another tip * as a PG # 4 mom- fold the stroller down and make sure it fits in your vehicle. we bought the top of the line car seat /travel system with # 2 - that never fit in our trunk- no lie. we had to sell it and we paid $500 for it. also, when looking at the car seats make sure you carry them around- as you will be when baby is in there- so add a 10, 15, 20 - 30 lb kid in there.. plus car seat
most ppl care about pattern and color scheme- and not the functuality of it- which you spend so much money on - and then if your a FTM and have a second and need a double stroller- then that money is wasted.
