moms with babies eating finger food

What do you serve baby for lunch?

For breakfast we do mini waffles or pancakes cut up and some fruit or oatmeal and fruit and for dinner we do what we are eating if its something she can have and some either fruit or veggies.

but I am stuck on lunch, sometimes she gets small pieces of chicken or macaroni and either fruit or veggie but I need some more options.

Thanks ladies

  • my latest thing for my daughter is a piece of toast with hummus and then some veggies or fruit.  I also started giving her some extra firm tofu last night.  Both a good options because there is little prep and she loves them.

  • Sounds like this will probably be no help to you, but LO normally eats last night's leftovers for lunch. If we have no left overs, we both eat a sandwhich, though he gets his one item at time, rather than as an actual sandwhich. If I'm ambitious I'll cook up some pasta, or quinoa or something and use it for his lunches for a few days in a row.

  • Proteins:I buy a couple baked chicken breasts and cut them up (already cooked...love it), cook up a small portion of ground beef

Carbs:A couple times a week i will cook some pasta and re-heat that.  whole grain waffles

Veggies:once or twice a week i cook frozen veggies (pea and carrot mixture, broccoli, corn) then i just reheat those.  If we're having potato or sweet potato he has one too and i save the left overs for tomorrow.

Fruits: canned or fresh fruits (pears, apple sauce, peaches)

    Dairy: yogurt or cottage cheese

I only have to cook and prepare two or three times a week and just keep rotating.  It's working out great and is much cheaper than baby food.  He seems to like it even more too!

  • I usually heat up some frozen peas and serve them with cereal puffs. If we have chicken, I will cut some up and give that to him as well.
