Ebayers

I have bought a couple things on ebay, but never sold.  So I want to list a video monitor extra  camera to sell.  Any tips?  Like how do I do the shipping costs, or does ebay do it for me?  Should I aim for the listing to be up for a certain length of time or end at any special time?  Can I send it in a padded envelope you think, or should I box it up?

Re: Ebayers

  • I would box it up.  Does it fit in the littlest USPS flat rate box?  I would be sure to package it nicely.

Suggestions - take lots of pics.  Do a detailed description - even a little scratch or mark, say if it is from a non-smoking house, etc.  I've been really honest in my auctions and then people are very happy, often they say it is better than they thought it would be.  Be sure to say if it comes with all parts, the manual, if it is missing a part, that kind of thing.

You can C&P the details of the actual product, or direct buyers to a link on the manufacturer page instead of listing it all yourself.  People are going to want to know little stuff like how long is the cord or how much does it weigh, and that way if you put a link, you don't have all that clutter on your auction page.

Also I put in my auction notes, that if the buyer doesn't pay the night the auction closes, it can take up to 1-3 days to ship.  In other words, my auctions end on Sunday night, and I'm ready to go to the post office on Monday morning.  So if they haven't paid by Monday morning, I might have other plans on other days and I'm not changing my plans because someone didn't pay within a day.

Also I don't deal with international buyers, and I only accept PayPal.  I think you can block people from seeing your auctions if they are international.

  • And I believe statistically/ideally, Sunday evening/night is the best time to end an auction, but you could also prob google it.
  • is it the best view camera? (the old style one?) How much are you looking to get for it? I've been wanting to get one..

  • Melissa, I wish I knew when you were here for SNMOP, I would have brought it!  Are you guys coming to Roc again anytime soon?  Or I can just mail it out to you.  As far as money, it didn't really matter.  I feel like they gave me a good deal with replacing the 1 camera that was in box for free and then I had to upgrade to their new model, but it was cheaper than I could have done in a store.  It is just the camera (the handheld broke), but it still works so I didn't want to just toss it.  June had actually given me the idea of ebay, I hadn't even thought of it before.

This is the link to the one on their website.  If it is the model you have, it's yours.

The cord is a bit chewed by ellie - we have electrical tape over the 2 spots, but it has worked that way for over a year.  Remember that recall that they now have to warn parents not to put the cord close to the crib - apparently that wasn't obvious to us Embarrassed
