Ok, just want to put it out there. The boy names are cute for girls on movies and shows bc the actress is usually a beautiful feminine character. But what about if your daughter goes through an awkward stage or maybe is not very feminine or chubby. Kids are cruel and I feel like they would be made fun of so much more. Just my opinion that I felt like getting off my chest. Agree? Disagree?
Re: The issue with male names for girls
I definitely see the point there, just wanted to say that Sawyer was the name of the baby on One Tree Hill. The parents Peyton (female) and Lucas (male) named her after her late mother's maiden name.
Also it's a great show !!! (In the genre of teenage/twentysomething shows that is
)

I agree with this. For me, the issue is when she is in school or applies for a job in the future. I'd want everyone to know my daughter was a girl. I'm imagining a girl named Logan or something would be annoyed that everyone thought she was boy by just seeing her name on an attendance roster or on a resume.
I totally agree! I like the idea if my daughter turns out to be very feminine and beautiful but if she isn't than I would feel bad for her. I agree that kids are going to tease ugly kids regardless of their names. I knew a girl in elementary school named Michael and she hated her name because everyone always thought she was a boy until they met her. It also didn't help that she was about a 18 inches taller than anyone else.
I like the more common unisex names though. Like Jordan or morgan.
Ahh -- see -- not having seen an episode personally, my mind didn't go there. I do suppose that an idealized television baby could sway one's name choices, too, completely. In full disclosure: I named my youngest Sloane after falling in love with the name from "Ferris Bueller's Day" off. It's a unisex name but still
This reminds me of the hyperbole post about people of indeterminate gender.
I once met a person whose sex I could not tell. Very tall, no breasts, strong jaw line, yet feminine lips, short hair, broad shoulders. The ONLY way I knew she was a she was because she had a nametag- Dawn. If her name had been Ryan or something, I am sure I would have put my foot in my mouth.
