Anyone have any exercises they are doing that they feel like they are not doing harm to baby? I read about how when working out blood flows away from uterus and other organs to go towards leg and arm muscles, which scares me to do what I normally do for work outs until I go to the doc next week and get the okay from him, but at this point I can't just keep doing nothing. Any recommendations? Anything you're doing? TIA!
Re: Exercises??
I haven't changed my routine. I go to spin 4-5 mornings, ab class 2 days a week, cardio/weight interval 3 days a week and light walks on the weekends. The only thing that I did change was my intensity level, I've gone from a 7-9 to a 6-7. I also wear a heart rate monitor and make sure that my HR never goes above 160 bpm for long.
I've been walking 2-3 miles on the treadmill and stretching after. I was running before I got pregnant, and although every thing says it's fine to continue, I didn't feel good. I'll probably start the elliptical after I talk to my doctor. I also just found prenatal Yoga class nearby so I hope to start that in the 2nd tri.

Unless your doctor gave you some sort of restrictions, it's fine to continue your normal pre-preg routine. You don't have to worry about your heartrate either, that's a really old school recommendation. Most doctors will tell you to watch your perceived exertion instead. If you can still speak in full sentences while exercising, you're fine.
I continued to do 30DS during first tri and then switched to a prenatal workout and yoga dvd in second tri. I also go to Zumba about 3 times a week.

My doctor wants me to continue my workout routine throughout my pregnancy. You can do majority of any of what you were doing pre pregnancy. I am still lifting weights (squats, leg press, bench, shoulder press.. etc. ) 4-5 days a week and doing the stepmill and spin class. As long as you listen to your body you are fine. Working out during pregnancy is really good for you and the baby and can help relieve many symptoms. After 1st Tri you cant do exercises on your back but you can just switch to a medicine ball instead of on your back. A good friend of mine just had her baby 5 weeks ago .. she was doing squats with me Monday and gave birth Tuesday! We worked out together her whole pregnancy!
Check out this website it kinda gives some guidelines. And if these Moms can have healthy babies doing crossfit I am sure you will be just fine to workout how you were!

i am the cheerleading coach at the school i teach at and up until we found out we were pregnant, i was doing back handsprings and jumps with the girls but I have not done anything since...
my mom has been gracious enough to offer her elliptical machine for me to use until the baby gets here so that i can do some low impact cardio for 20-30 a day...going to start that tomorrow after my "big" appointment with the OBGYN so I can get their go ahead due to a hemmorage in my uterus near the baby
I'm a personal trainer, but I'm still taking it easy until my first OB appointment. Pre-Preg I was working out 1-3 hours a day, seven days a week....dance cardio, weights, teaching boot camp classes. Luckily, I take two weeks off for the holidays from work so I haven't been doing a ton.
I've been really tired an nauseas, so I've mostly been using my treadmill and walking on inclines for 30min to an hour. After my OB gives me the all clear (and this exhaustion passes) I'm looking forward to getting back into a slightly more intensive routine.
