I have noticed that sometimes when I empty my bladder (especially in the middle of the night) I have a hard time walking afterwards because there is a sharp pain down there that lasts usually 10-30 seconds and I have to brace myself. Is this a contraction or what? I only feel it after I empty my bladder and it doesn't happen every time I empty it. Yesterday I wasn't really dilated but she said I am about ready to lose the mucous plug. Could that be the pain I am feeling? I don't go to the doctor again until the end of next week, so it would be nice to have other's advice or opinions.

Depends on what you mean by "down there." If it is a very specific location, it might just be your LO readjusting now that your empty bladder has opened up a little more space. If you get it most often in when you go in the middle of the night, your bladder may just be extra full. I feel a constant pain where my little guy is resting his head on my right side, and if I hold going to the bathroom for too long, I am definitely more aware of it once I go.
If it's truly debilitating, don't be afraid to call your doc's office. I have the option of leaving a message for my doc (which is usually returned by a nurse) if I have questions, or I can talk directly to a nurse or doctor on call if I call and the receptionist feels it's urgent enough.
this right here!! It's such severe pain that I walk hunched over or have to actually stop for a while and breathe... No fun!
