At what point did your Dr release you back to work?

I had my 6 week check up today, and while everything has been fine with my healing, I was suprised that my Dr went ahead and released me back to work...I was REALLY expecting to get my full 8 weeks!

Just wondering for those of you that are back to work at what point your Dr released you.

  • 6 weeks. Before I had the baby he said 6-8 but since I wasnt having any issues at my 6 week check, I was given the ok to go back then.

  • 8 weeks...I really wanted 12 lol. But I ended up staying home in the end...we could afford it and I wasn't ready to leave her...I am working now though-part time!

  • 6 weeks and I started back that week.  However, I felt physically fine at 4-5 weeks.
  • It's been exactly a month since DS arrived and at my appointment Monday (4 weeks post-op) I was cleared. OB said since I didn't eat my pain killers like candy (as many of his patients do, apparently) and I am healing perfectly, that I can resume "normal" activities. Work, exercise, etc. My boss, though, won't let me come back until at least 6 weeks post-op, but only because her boss gets picky about having women come back too early and over doing it. I can't say I'm sad to have to wait 2 more weeks, but at the same time, DH has had to get other part time jobs to make up for the lost income... and he hates it. So it will be a bitter sweet moment when I have to leave DH and DS home for the first time while I go back to work.

  • So great to hear everyone is doing well!

My short term disabilty pays for 8 weeks if you have a c-section and will pay for 12 if the Dr has documentation of a complication.

  • First time it was 5w because I had to get out of the house. This time she released me at 9w. She doesn't release any sooner than 8w for a c/s unless a patient asks.

  • six weeks-but the doctor said she'd say 8 if I wanted the extra time (which I did).
  • 8 weeks. I mentioned to my doctor that my boss said some women come back as early as 4 weeks with a c/s. His words to me "I'm sure your boss will tell you that she's seen women come back as early as the day they are released... I release at 8 weeks c/s"
