Subpoena to testify.....irritated. Vent.

So the week I moved into my house, the house next door was robbed. Since I am a SAHM, they asked me if I saw/heard anything. I said if I did I would let them know. Later I remembered that a man came to my door wearing gloves and a baseball cap. He asked me if "Some man's name" lived here. Then he said, "You know what? I have the wrong house, he lives here and pointed to the house next door." We laughed and I told him not to worry about it.

So I didn't pick this guy out of a line up. They had me look a twenty men two WEEKS later. Of course I didn't recognize him. But, the time frame I gave them was on the money for him robbing my neighbor's house. The night before I was supposed to look at a line up, my back door lock was hit and someone tried to force my door open. Luckily that same day, my dad put wood beams in all my doors. Thanks, dad! lol

So I am irritated because this was in October 2010. I do not remember this day, I couldn't even say what time I told them this guy came to the door. So now I have to show up, 8 1/2 months pregnant, get a sitter for my son (which feels impossible so far), etc. And frankly, I just don't want to do it!

Did I mention that my neighbor and I recently had a falling out because we're both military wives and I caught her with her ex while her husband is deployed? I really hope she's not there. :/

    I'm sorry you have to go through this...I'm in a legal dispute right now myself and have to go to court next week. It sucks, but since you were subpoenaed you have no choice, you have to go... I wonder if you can ask to have a copy of your original statements before you go?

    I know I have to go. I just am whining about it. lol I was thinking about asking for my statements but I wouldn't know who to get those from!

    That stinks! I got a subpoena after my car was broken into in February. My neighbor was going to the bathroom at 3 am and happened to look out the window and see 2 gentleman in my car. She called us and we both called the cops. They got both "kids" with a bag full of loot from neighborhood cars. I got everything back. When I went to court the district attorney went over "my" statement and they had me down as the eye witness when I was not the one who saw them. Luckily, the first one pled guilty and I was never called. The 2nd one was insisting on a trial and I was worried, he ended up taking the guilty plea as well. I was only 2 months pregnant at the time, I can't imagine doing it right now.

    That does suck!  I just got a jury summons for Jan 6th, just one month shy of my due date.  I am hoping they look at me and decide they don't want a crazy hormonal pregnant lady on the jury!

    It just makes me nervous. I looked up both of these men and they have a heavy wrap sheet. Robbery is just the tip of the iceberg. You never know who you're dealing with and they know where I live. The police think that their "friends" were trying to scare me by breaking into my house the night before I was supposed to go to the lineup. It will be obvious that I am in a "fragile" state and I don't want someone to come looking for me. :/

    actually, I don't think you have to respond to a supoena, only a court order (I'm not a lawyer, I'm a therapist, but I do know if my records get supoenaed, I don't have to provide them, only by actual court order)  so maybe look into it!

    This! I got a jury summons for Jan 4th which is a day after my birthday on top of me being 33 weeks. I was hoping the same, although I am pretty nosy and it could be worth the hassle.Stick out tongue
