Mesh Hospital Panties

It will be almost 6 years between my last c-section and the upcoming c-section so I'm curious. Do hospitals still make you wear those mesh, gauzy panties for after surgery?

Those things crack me up for some reason.

And yet, I am always SO relieved to have them on after being naked underneath during surgery.

Yeah, my hospital has them. I thought I would hate them, but after everything I went through, I didn't even care. They will probably always have them.

Yes, and I took as many home as my grubby little hands could get a hold of. They were so much more comfortable than worrying about my regular undies touching my incision.

Not sure where you are delivering - I delivered at Women's 15 months ago and they had the mesh panties but didn't make me wear them.

I hated them so much and just wore my hanky panky panties while in the hospital.

They put them on me in recovery and sent me over with a couple pairs but once I got to post partum unit, I was told they didn't have any and that I was supposed to use my own underwear. I wanted to cry because I loved those mesh panties.

I would have just bleed on the bed until I got some. My love for them might be a bit extreme. lol

This. My hospital had a rule that patients could only have a couple pair then you had to use your own underwear. I was so mad! I almost made DH go out and buy me depends underwear so I didnt ruin my underwear.

Those mesh panties were a god send. I was sent home with a few and a month before my c-section, I bought a 3-pack. I didn't end up using them because I had heard you can launder them, albeit, carefully, to extend their life if need be.

Oh yay! Glad to know they are still around I remember feeling so clean and comfortable with those things on and totally forgot that they don't bother the incision.

I wore them for a day or so, but I was more comfortable wearing my own granny panties for the majority of my hospital stay.

I just had a baby 3 weeks ago and had the mesh panties. They were nice for the first 2 days while I was wearing the huge pads, but after day 3 I was ready to wear my own underwear.

I was sad to toss my pair when I got home but they were fitting funny. I may have saved my mesh panties from my first c/s, so all is not lost.

I actually switched to regular panties but I wear them overtop my binder, do nothing is bothering my incision.

I remember telling my dad "I love those things! I don't know why people don't wear them everyday!" They kept bringing me more because I kept sticking them in my suitcase to bring home. Once I was out of the hospital, though, I felt a little silly wearing them.

I always read how much everyone loved these b/c they were comfy right after the c-section, but my experience was the exact opposite. After the first few hours, the surgeon came to check on my incision and removed the outer bandaging so I just had the steri-strips covering the incision. Once I was up and moving, though, the little bit of seepage from the incision had kind of hardened around the mesh of the underwear, and it hurt so bad trying to peel them away. Apparently I'm the only one this happened to, but I will for sure be avoiding the mesh undies the next time as much as possible!

Im an OB nurse and yes we still have these and mosr moms love them and ask for more to take home, they breathe and are typically more comfortable, we call them our victoria secret panties.
