Photographers-zooming in on a face

Does anyone have the ability to zoom in on a picture of a soldier's face in Afghanistan? My friend is trying to see if this is her cousin wearing the scarf his grandmother knitted him sitting on top of a tank with a marine company of 26 soldiers but I don't have any way of zooming in clearly from this emailed photo.  Is there any type of free software out there that can do that? The photo wasn't attached but was just inside of the email when they were searching for recent photos of marines stationed over there hoping to see a picture of their family.

  • I'm pretty sure that only CSI:NY and the FBI has the ability to fill in pixels from a low quality photo ;) But I could be 100% wrong. The best bet is to find the original picture so you can get a higher image quality and details about who was in the picture.

  • Haha yeah I figured it was a long shot but photoshop can do some pretty remarkable edits on photos ;) I thought  maybe there's a chance to zoom in.  They don't have the actual image because I think they are pulling the images from marine family blogs that they check daily and based on the blog where they got this, they suspect the location might be the same as the cousin.  I don't think the blog posts the original pictures either though-it's just people attaching the same photos with the origin unknown.
  • i opened the image in photoshop and it is so low resolution you can't see much at all when you zoom.  the pixels are huge. :(
  • They just emailed me that he called today at 4:30 am, by coincidence, and he said it wasn't his company.  Thanks for trying!
