I'm taking time off, dammit!

I know, such a huge announcement...but it is a big deal to me because Military have the hardest time getting these kinds of things approved.

Basically, my shop is extremely under-manned...and I thought that was going to be a problem, but my boss has shown just how little she cares about MY well-being, by coming in late/leaving early all last week, AND calling me the day-of and saying "oh yeah, i'm taking leave today".

So EFF that, starting 16 January i'm taking leave until baby arrives. I haven't gotten a THING ready for my kid, mostly because i've been working non-stop! DH works evenings, so once I get home he's running out the door...we can't get ANYTHING ready!

Why wait until the 16th?!?! It sounds like you could use the time off to get things ready, and then a little downtime. I'd start taking off on the 3rd if possible.

I think there is a serious problem with women in today's society feeling bad about taking the time off work. I am guilty of it!

Enjoy your time off. Hope you can find some extra time before the 16th though!

Today is my first official day of maternity leave, and it is totally awesome! I'm not planning on doing anything besides eating, doing prenatal yoga, and getting pregnancy massages. I highly recommend it. I have been feeling guilty about it from time to time, but I am trying really hard not to. Do what you need to do!
