Just *how big* are these mesh panties and pads??

I am trying to put together my hospital clothes for after birth and when I tried on my yoga pants I thought about trying to stuff these "ginormous pads" in with me, and it didn't seem like it would work.

For those that have worn these things, do yoga pants still work? Or should I be going with something a bit less form fitting?

  • They are big but you can wear yoga pants with them....the mesh pants aren't bad at all...they are thin and the pads are thick like the big overnight pads.  HTH....ugh I should of bought new yoga pants from gap....I forgot I lived in them for the weeks after my DD...off to shop online!

  • OK, thanks. I found a pair of THE MOST comfortable yoga pants ever and almost bought them until I realized I didn't want to ruin them. I may have to buy them and sacrifice my older ones!

  • I don't think you will really ruin them...I never bled out of my pad or anything...the first 2 days are a lot of blood and then after that it is just like a period really...I bled for about 8 weeks pp though it stunk so maybe I just bled slowly...

  • The pad is like a rectangular block (although they're old school and have the extra flap at the end, I presume for the belts they used to wear with them before they were stick-on???) and the panties are One Size Fits All, so use your imagination ;-)  I'm all of 5'1" and pre-pregnancy 100 lbs., so on me they're pretty huge but the heavier/taller the woman, the better they'll fit.  They're super stretchy though so they really do stay pretty form-fitting regardless.  Wear what you want!  I had a section and didn't want anything over my fresh incision so I stayed in a gown my first pregnancy - no pants!

  • Oh I also wore my gown for the whole time in the hospital because they check you too much to have pants on but I lived in yoga pants for like the first  month after birth.

  • Oh man, I totally forgot about those. I think dealing with postpartum recovery is worse than delivery!

  • I was wondering about wearing pants with the many checks that go on in the hospital... I guess I could bring pants and see how I feel, and decide on hospital gown vs pants then.

    Definitely!

I was able to shove the big pad and an ice pack in my yoga pants.  Fun times.

  • ick i remember the big pads and hated them, they were soooo wide, too wide almost for my body so they would "chunk up" i guess is how i can describe it? I don't plan on taking many home this time, i'll just buy some always. I love the mesh underwear though, they're like boyshort/hipster underwear and if they get blood on them just throw them out. ugh recovery is no fun, you guys are right!
