My midwife okayed the use of Icy Hot during pregnancy, as long as I didn't use it with a heating pad (I guess it's possible to get burnt). Now I'm reading that I shouldn't because an ingredient is derived from aspirin. Did any of you ladies ask? I've only used it once, but was planning on using it tonight because a spot on my lower back is KILLING me. Should I just relax, since my MW (whom I do trust) okayed it?
Re: Icyhot...My MW said I could use, but what about you?
I also trust my medical professionals, big time, but I also understand that they are human and can make mistakes. Personally, I'd either a) call my pharmacist and see if he knows the answer, or b) double check with my doctor (in your case, your midwife) and let her know why I'm second-guessing.
My sister is pregnant, and was just given a medication by a doctor, and was later told by another doctor that it's unsafe for pregnancy. You can never go wrong with a second opinion if you're worried.

I saw someone answer on one of the threads here about not being able to use Icy Hot and so I googled it. Which is not always a good idea, usually just freaks me out more than anything. I'm not super worried, I've only used it once and only over a little bit of skin. Still, I WANT to use it.
I have no idea what IcyHot is....is it like a cream? If so, wouldn't it say on the package if it's unsafe for pregnant women?

I actually have the vanishing scent Icy Hot gel. Thank you for your input!
I heard this too, an aspirin product being involved.
My husband has neck pain from an old car accident and he uses these. They have ones for the back, others for neck and shoulders. There's no stinky creams that leach into your system. It's nothing more than a pack that warms up and sticks to your skin. He gets them at Costco but you can find them at most drug stores.
