Your OB and U/S tech didn't know whether it was twins after reviewing your ultrasound?
That's what I was thinking....the picture is kind of fuzzy but by 7 weeks your doctor should certainly be able to tell if there were two babies and two heartbeats!
Seriously you ladies are reading my mind! The said they didn't want to say for sure that they wanted to send me to a medical imaging place. I know none of you can say for sure but I was kind of hoping someone might have seen or experienced the same thing. I suck at waiting!

That looks like twins to my totally untrained eye, but I just have to add that if I had a doctor that couldn't read an ultrasound well enough to tell if I was having twins by week 7 then I would run...not walk...out of his/her office and never look back.

yes, this, for sure. why even have u/s equipment if you don't know how to use it?

Yeah if that's what they said then it's not twins. At 7 weeks they would be able to tell, especially if the image in question was what they were looking at. If they see two of "something" and at 7 weeks can't tell that it's a baby, then it's not.
As all the ladies before me have said, how do they not know at 7 weeks? I am 5w2d and I just found out yesterday, by way of transvaginal ultrasound, that I am having twins. There wasn't an ounce of hesitation by my doctor.
Just wanted to update everyone, it is twins! I'm in shock! I'm 7 weeks and three days along and both babies heartbeats were at 150. They said there is a small membrane separating them but it looks like they will share a placenta.

Re: Twins?
I'm confused....

My U/S tech was able to detect two heartbeats at my first ultrasound at 6 weeks 4 days....
wtf? they're "thinking" twins? what kind of doctor do you go to???
and yes, that could be twins, or it could be one baby and a yolk sac.

At 5w4d we clearly saw four seperate sacs with yolk sacs, transvaginally, and one week later we saw four heart beats.

I don't think you need to "wait."
It's not necessarily a bad thing they're referring you to a radiologist. Good luck with your next scan.
