Oy. Poor Aaron has a nasty virus/infection (on a Z-pack, but it's not helping). He's had a fever since Friday morning?ranging from 100 to 103?and he's not eating more than a bite of Cheerios and rice (with our Chinese tonight). Thankfully he's drinking water, so he's staying hydrated.
So I'm calling the pedi tomorrow to see what to do. I feel so stupid about this but I'm thankful I never had to deal with a sick baby?but a sick toddler is pretty bad too.
Re: First REAL illness
Poor little guy! You're lucky you made it so far with no illnesses! Something must be going around...we cut our Christmas festivities short yesterday as DS woke up from a nap with a 103.6 fever. Fever has ranged today from 101 to 103.8. I called pedi this morning and he told me to continue Tylenol and if DS is still feverish tomorrow, to bring him in. Luckily, he does still have an appetite though.
Hope Aaron feels better soon!

Strunella, our pedi said there is something going around. Some sort of bacterial cough (similar to walking pneumonia) and that's what we thought Aaron had.
We took him in this morning for the pedi's 8 am walk-in hours, because he looked SO miserable and his fever was 102 when he woke up. Got there and it was 101.4 and the nurse took his oxygen levels and it was low. Pedi looked at him, and initially was going to send us for a chest x-ray (even though his lungs sounded clear, because he wasn't getting well) but then moved to his ears and the culprit of this illness became clear?double ear infections!
So because of his low oxygen, we gave him a nebulizer treatment (albuterol). The nurse was shocked that we never did this before and Aaron fought it like we were torturing him! We're going back tomorrow for a re-check.
We were supposed to go to Virginia tomorrow to see friends but we canceled because we want him to rest (he still had a slight fever tonight at bedtime) and fully recuperate. I'm bummed because I was going to meet fellow a couple of Bumpies. Maybe another time. But I know it's the right choice?at least for us.

Awww...hope the nebulizer does the trick, along with the antibiotics for the ear infections. I don't think our issue is an ear infection...DS is still sleeping through the night, so the pedi ruled that out. Guess he's not miserable enough for an ear infection, though he is nasty congested (but not coughing). He still feels rather warm to me, so unless there is a miraculous recovery by tomorrow morning, I have a feeling we'll be heading to the doctor.
Sorry you have to miss your trip! I would have cancelled too...LOs need their rest and you don't want to be far from home with a sick kiddo.
how's he feeling today? hopefully better!

Oh no, A-teamer! That low oxygen thing is nothing to mess with. If you recall, our little friend Theo was in the hospital with that for nearly a week. He's fine now. but he was a very sick little boy for a while.
Feel better, young man.
Hey all. Thanks for the good wishes. A is still not doing so well?the new antibiotic (Omnicef) caused an allergic reaction. I'm not overly surprised, as I am also allergic to it (and Penicillin) but upset that's not getting better. He is barely eating and isn't pooping (because he's not eating) but at least he's drinking a lot.
And I got sick too. I'm on a Z-pack now. Not fun.
