Success after IF

Would YOU be pissed? Or am I being unreasonable- opinions, please.

We had a family birthday party today ( it was just an informal gathering for lunch and cake at a family members house).

We get there and walk in and the dad says we are one and a half men down- one kid is in bed throwing up since this morning and the other kid is laying around not feeling well.  Later on as we were sitting to eat, the dad could not eat because HE now was not feeling well.

C'mon!  Don't you think they should've at least called and let us know what was going on so we could make our own decision?   We drove an hour and a half to get there, so it is not like we could just turn around and go home.  Am I being unreasonable to think they should've let us know? ( feel free to tell me I am)

I am going to be SO PI$$ED if we get this stomach bug!

Re: Would YOU be pissed? Or am I being unreasonable- opinions, please.

  • I think they should have called everyone that morning for sure! It would be one thing if the throwing up happened right as you walked in the door and they didn't know he was getting sick, but if a child is sick when they wake up you cancel the party!

  • I'd be pisssed.  Because I happen to know the barf/diarrhea stomach bug that's going around is VERY contagious.  My kid ended up dehydrated in the ER getting IV fluids.  That was irresponsible and stupid of them (the people holding the party.)
    Wheee!

  • Frankly, I don't think they should have given anyone a choice - they should have cancelled!  It was just a small birthday party.

  • I would be pissed.  That stupid stomach bug is so contageous.  He should have let you decide for yourself if you wanted to risk it or not.

  • They absolutely should have given you a head's up.  I like doing that kind of stuff so I possibly would have gone anyway --and I get that they wanted people to come over but it is just rude to not let people with a 1.5 year old know when there is illness in the house.

This!  We didn't end up in the ER, but it was really bad for us too...it's super contagious and sucks!   Hopefully y'all are spared!

  • I'd be livid! You don't wait until people drive 1.5 hours, and then tell them that there's a case of a highly contagious stomach bug in the house. That's really rude.

  • I'd be incredibly pissed. I am terrified of the stomach bug so as soon as I heard someone was barfing I'd have been out of there, an hour and a half drive or not. And I would have said something about how rude it was for them not to cancel and risk exposing everyone else. I hope you guys are ok!!

  • I would be pissed too.  It's irresponsible and inconsiderate when people don't kep their kids or themselves away from others when they're sick.  It should just be a no brainer.
