I just got one because I am about to start DD in her crib next week. I am so paranoid about SIDS so I thought if nothing else the monitor will help me relax a little. Do you like yours? Do you have many false alarms? Thanks for your input!
we LOVE ours!!! Its the only way I can sleep! Otherwise i would be standing over LO watching his chest rise and fall all night!!! The ticking is annoying at first, but you get used to it.
no false alarms yet, but i do know some people that had them. It depends on if LO moves off the pad or not.
We got our's after DH (who is a volunteer firefighter/paramedic) went on a call for a baby who died of SIDS 3 months ago. DH was waking up every hour and checking on DS, and I wasn't sleeping well either. On top of that, he started wanting to be a tummy sleeper, which scared us even more!
We will get false alarms if he moves off the pad. Sometimes, he scoots to the edge and puts his butt in the air - that sets it off sometimes, too. But, we *maybe* get a false alarm once a week, and it wakes him up just enough to move and it shuts off before I can even get up the stairs (in a run!) to check on him. I just move him over a bit and he's set. I also like that when he's older, we can disconnect the pad and still use it as a regular monitor.
Oh, one note: the other night, the monitor stopped working! I noticed at his 1:30 feeding that the power light was blinking. I was so tired, I didn't really think about it - at 5:00 I heard him screaming and realized the monitor wasnt on. I read the owners manual, and if the power light is blinking, the batteries (4 AAA) need to be replaced. Even though they are only for backup, if those batteries are low or dying, the monitor will not work (even if you have the monitor plugged in to the wall).
Our miracle has arrived! Benjamin Aaron, born 6/23/11

I am soooo happy we got this!!! We moved him to his crib at 7 weeks and it gave me SUCH a peice of mind. When he was in the basinette I would check him ALL NIGHT LONG.
Turns out my little guy loves to sleep on his belly. So at 6wks we let him nap on his belly & at 3 mos sleep through the night on his belly - all b/c we had the angel care and it gave me a HUUUUUGE piece of mind!!!
We have had maybe 3 false alarms in almost 4 mos? It usually b/c he scootches all the way to one corner of the crib.
I think it is 100% worth the $! people are always like 'doesnt it make you crazy"... but it doesn't!! It gives me a huge piece of mind

I have one and love it! Mine has gone off twice in a little over 4 months. It took me a while to get the sensitivity where I wanted it. The first time it when off she had just scooted off the pad, but the second time it went off I don't know if it was a false alarm or not. She was in her same place on the crib where she always sleeps. She was just on her stomach instead of her side. I had just checked on her and thirty minutes later it went off. I don't know if she was just breathing really shallow or what. Needless to say I love mine! I really like the temperature display because my DD is cold natured.
Also, I got tired of the tick sound so I turned the sound for it off (owner's manual tells you how). It still has sound coming from her room and the alarm will still sound if she were to get off the pad or something.
I have one. I love it, although I have had false alarms using it with DS # 1, which almost gave me a heart attack. I plan to reuse it when I transition DS # 2 to the crib, which will be soon.
We have one and I really like it. I haven't really had any false alarms, just once or twice when he's all the way to the bottom of the crib sideways it takes an extra minute to read the movement I think. And the tick you can turn off to wear it just blinks so you can see that. If it goes off it will beep on both sides! Hope you enjoy!

We've been using the Angel Care monitor since my LO was born (12 weeks) and have had only 1 false alarm. It's great! Just remember to put plyboard under the mattress and sensor pad.
We have one and as much as I love it, I hate it! The alarm was going off CONSTANTLY! Even now that I have the sensitivity turned all the way off, we still get the warning beep atleast twice a night. Like pp mentioned, you can turn off the constant beep sound for the tic toc motion indicator. Sometimes, I feel like I watch the dang parent unit obsessively. I hope you don't get like that!
Love it! We normally only use the motion detection for when we are in the living room. I would always forget to turn off the motion part on the monitor before getting her out of the crib and it would drive me nuts. So before bed I turn that part off but her room is very close we have moved our bed so I can see her through the hall in her crib.
