UTI question

I suspect my DD has a UTI, we have a dr. appt. made, but I was wondering...do they always run a fever if they have one?

Growing up I would get bladder infections/uti all the time, I can't recall once ever getting a fever.

Re: UTI question

  • Fevers don't always go along with a UTI.  If you have a UTI accompanied with a fever, it may mean that the UTI is more severe and possibly progressed to the kidneys.  Many people can have UTI's without fever, though.

Anytime I suspect DD may have a UTI, I always take her in to give a urine sample.  Its better to be safe than sorry and let things get worse!

  • My DD is very very prone to UTI's and has had many. She has never once ran a fever with them though..I believe because we catch it pretty soon after we see symptoms...extremely fussy and now that she is a little older she will cry when she is peeing and grabs herself and says poo poo....also her urine will smell a little stronger with them.
