2 1/2 yr old with cough

My poor DD has the worse cough! She has a cold with major mucus draining in her throat. She's really bad at night. She's coughing but doesn't know how to spit out the gunk, she just keeps swallowing it. Yuckkkk. Any tips? Right now she just sleeping with a humidifier. I took her to the dr but that was useless... Any tips or tricks to help? TIA

    We are going through the EXACT same thing. My guy is miserable.  He has had a cough of some sort since Thanksgiving.  You are right in that going to the pedi is pointless. They put him on Albuterol before, but it really did nothing.  Have you tried honey? We have used both Little Noses (or whatever it's called) Honey Elixir and just plain honey and they do seem to work.  I also propped a Boppy under his pillow.  I feel so bad for the LO.

    Try putting vicks vapo rub on her feet with socks.  Whenever DD has a cough that's what I do and it seems to help her sleep.

    Try buckwheat honey with lemon juice. The clover honey is ok but buckwheat honey really helps. It taste awful to me and I have to hold DS down to make him swallow it but its the only thing that will help his cough. We also put my old boppy under his crib mattress it helps to elevate his head the right amount. Also we have t make sure hes not too warm with blankets or he coughs a lot more. Hope DD feels better soon.

    How about dropping dairy in her diet.  Might sound weird but it works for DS.  Had colds off and on for months, 2 dr visits, antibiotics and steriods.....dairy free and finally better!!  Good luck!
