sleep help

I am exhausted. I don't sleep. I am literally up every 20 minutes. There is no way to get comfortable. I know that once she is here I wont be getting any sleep either, but I will at least be able to get comfortable enough to rest a little. I don't go to the doctor again until wednesday so I was wondering if anybody had suggestions or what their doctors have told them.

Re: sleep help

  • have you thought of trying benedryl or tylenol PM (which is tylenol + benedryl)?

I've used both (not at the same time, of course) when desperate.

Sometimes kicking DH out of bed helps me. I love him but sometimes he wakes me up when he has to go to the bathroom or drink water or whatever and it's difficult to fall back asleep. Lately he's had a cold/cough so I banished him to DS's room last night! ha.

  • I had to sleep in a chair the other night because of heartburn and a foot jabbed under my rib cage! I have also used benadryl before

  • I was having problems sleeping for about two weeks.  I got about 2 hours every night and it wasn't good with having to go work the next day.  My OB prescribed me a muscle relaxer to help relieve tension and get sleep.  I had some pretty terrible migraines.  I started on those meds (one before bed every night) and now I get my full eight hours.  It has helped a lot...also, no migraines since I started on them!

Other tips, maybe try taking a nice warm shower before bed.  Also, keep a routine so that your body knows you are getting ready to sleep, same time, every night.  I hope that helps!

  • My friend has terrible sleep problems and got this body pillow.  She said it has helped her a lot!  It's worth a try!  GL!

  • I actually got one of those small wedge pillows at BRU and it helps me a lot.  Agree with PP about benadryl and tylonol PM also.  My doctor also told me that the benadryl can also help calm your urinary urges also.  Good luck, know we need all the sleep we can get before LO's arrive!

  • Benadryl and Tylenol PM both help me a bit. Both were Dr. approved.

  • I'm there with you... as soon as I get comfortable, I have to go to the bathroom or my hips wake me up aching.  I have a body pillow and a maternity pillow... neither of which give me relief.  I've tried Tylenol and a heating pad... that was a no go as well.  Most of the time, I just sit straight up in the bed and doze off for a few minutes.  It is extremely frustrating and makes it so difficult to get up and function at work all day.

    Hope you get some relief!!

  • I don't have any advice because I too am suffering from lack of sleep.  I finally got three solid hours last night from about 2:30-5:30 am, but that's been the bulk of my sleep for the last week.  I think I only got that "gift" due to extreme exhaustion.  My next appointment isn't til thurs.  Let us know how the rec's go, and what doc says, cause this is just misery.  GL!!!!!

Yes! When we moved in together a couple of years ago, DH and I each brought our own beds. We meant to get rid of one, but I'm so glad we didn't. We have both beds set up next to each other in our bedroom (we have a large bedroom) and he sleeps in one and I sleep in the other. I still have nights where heartburn and hip pain interfere with my sleep, but "mega bed" has been amazing because I have so much more room to roll over and stack pillows all around me. If you can get DH to sleep on the couch it might help =)
  • I can't sleep tonight, I had a great night of sleep last night, but my belly just feels weird tonight. I'm having tons of pressure in my lower pelvic area that's making me feel like I have to pee every 10 minutes! I'm getting super anxious about having this baby. I tried distracting myself while i'm on bedrest this week, but it's not going well! This husband is snoring so comfortably next to me!
  • I'm not sleeping well either.

    Going to bed late.

    Sleeping in from exhaustion.

The anxiety and anxiousness waiting for baby is making it worse!
