How do you store games and puzzles?

Now that DS is a little older, he got quite a few board games, and also some puzzles in boxes rather than the wood ones that fit on his puzzle rack. I think I'm in need of some type of storage unit for his playroom. Right now he has a toy box and a sling bookshelf, but I think I need something additional. Any recommendations?

  • I designated a shelf in my Stepson's closet for stuff like that.  But in the past we've done a plastic tote bin in the playroom, or a shelf in the front closet (coat closet).  I also used to have a hall closet that we didn't really use for much so I put stuff in there.

  • We don't have a lot of board puzzles anymore so her jigsaw puzzles just go in a bin in her toy shelves.

Games are different - I'm a nut about keeping all the pieces together and not having them strung all over the house.  So I actually keep them on a shelf in the basement.  She can go down and get them whenever she wants but I don't have to worry about other kids visiting and dumping them out.

  • I restrict access to games, because they toss pieces all over the place and then get frustrated when they are lost.

Puzzles are on a shelf in their boxes. If the box got trashed I cut out the picture and stick it in a gallon or quart ziploc with the pieces.

  • We have a hallway cupboard and the first big shelf has all the games and puzzles in it. It is at reach so that both my older DD's can reach it.

  • For now, I have a box that I can stand the toy boxes in and they fit pretty nicely.  At some point, I will move all into the basement playroom but for now, the girls still need help with most of the games and the box sits on our fireplace brick area as we never use that fireplace.

  • Each child has a shelf in their closet for board games and puzzles. Ds can access his games by himself, dd's are a little higher since she tends to be a dumper.
  • We found a toy box bench online for just under $70. You can get it personalized as well! Perfect solution!
