2 chairs/gliders for nursery?

Hi ladies!!!!!!!!  I was wondering if its a good idea to get 2 rockers/gliders for the nursery, or maybe a loveseat?

I am in LOVE with this chair from Pottery Barn that is like $900, but I could never afford two.  Its so comfy and pretty.

If its essential, I can get 2 less expensive gliders/rocker/chairs.

Would you find it helpful to have 2 in the nursery or did you and DH not feed in the same room or at same time?

ETA:  I probably will be breastfeeding.  I didn't plan on it originally, but since there will be two mouths to feed, formula may be too expensive.

Re: 2 chairs/gliders for nursery?

  • We have a glider and ottoman in the nursery. We really didn't think it through when we got the ottoman (it just came with the chair) but DH used that to sit on when we did overnight feeds. We didn't have the space for 2 gliders or rockers or anything in our nursery, even if we would have wanted it. It worked out well for us to have 2 somethings where someone could sit, even though the ottoman is not that comfy.

  • We only have the space for one glider and ottoman. A lot of times we just feed them in the livingroom on the couch anyway. We use the rocker more for bedtime trying to wind them down.

  • I only have one - that's all there is room for anyway.  Since I am EBF, I really don't have a need for more than one though.  By the time my LOs slept in the nursery, they were going longer stretches at night so I barely used it at first.  Now I only use it once or twice a day for their morning feedings.
  • We have a glider and ottoman and it works fine - unless all hell is breaking loose dh and I try to alternate feedings.  I do think when they are older a love seat would be nice for reading bed time stories.  Also I couldn't fit the twin breasfeeding pillow in the glider.

  • if you have room - go for it.

but most people don't have 2 or a loveseat... and do just fine.

the twins were STTN at 8 weeks, so it was only 8 weeks that we were feeding 2 babies at the same time during the night... i'd sit in the rocking recliner and DH would sit on the toy chest - IF we were feeding at the same time... around 5 weeks they started to stretch it out and wake a little different.  We'd also feed on our bed at times, too, so we could watch TV if we were having trouble falling back to sleep.

i'm a huge fan of getting a rocking recliner  bc you can sleep on it comfortably when the babies/kids need you in the room (sick, etc).

  • We only got one.  We don't have room for two in their room anyway.  In the beginning when I was BFing, I mostly did it on the living room couch anyway.  We later bought a second glider and have it in our room for nights when we need 2 chairs.  It works great for us, but like I said we didn't get the second one until they were over 1 years old and we had moved to a larger house.
  • We LOVE having two chairs in DD's room. We got one $$$ glider, that was our big pre-baby splurge and then we have an old rocker in there. I sit in the glider and DH sits in the rocker. We've used them every night since the babies were born for doing our bedtime routine.

Honestly, I'd get yourself a decent glider and get your DH a less cozy chair. Most DH's wouldn't notice.
