Halo Sleep Sack Problem

I just woke up to discover that DD had pulled the swaddle part of her Halo Sleep Sack up over her nose and mouth!  I'm freaking out!  Has anyone else had this happen?  I feel like I need to discontinue using the sacks.  What other swaddles are you guys using?

Re: Halo Sleep Sack Problem

  • Wilsontl19191 posted about this the other day, but I am not sure if she meant just the sac or the swaddle part. We just use the sleep sacs with his arms free so we haven't had a problem.

I really liked the SwaddleMe one that looks like a little sleeping bag.  The velcro can wear out pretty quickly though.  We finally weaned off of the swaddle a couple of weeks ago because he moved around way too much in it for my comfort.  We went to one arm, just legs, then a sleep sack only.

Yup!  Same problem.  We still use them though.  He likes it up by his face.  But Jonnygurl said it could be because of a size issue.  As he gets bigger, it has been fitting better.  I have a love - hate relationship with the sleep sack.

  • I had this problem before I started getting the little shoulder tucks actually over his shoulders. I pull the sleep sack down low and really make sure to have the swaddle part over his shoulers then pull it tight

I have had this issue too and my LO can get her arms up by her face and wake herself so I use the Escape Proof Swaddle....youtube it. It works every time!

  • Hi there, HALO here.  I recently read your posting and wanted to offer some help.  This can sometimes happen if the swaddle is too big for the baby, if it?s not wrapped tightly enough, or the wings aren?t secured properly.  Also, some babies just prefer to sleep with their arms up vs. down, and will wriggle until they can get their arms up.  I am not sure about the size of the Swaddle you are using (it comes in newborn 6-12lbs/19-23? and size small 13-18 lbs, 23-26?); please check that first.  If it?s properly sized, you can also try swaddling her with one or both arms out of the swaddle.  This can still provide the soothing snugness of the swaddle, but allow her to sleep with her arms up.  Other parents have told us that this works like a charm, and helps to transition the baby from swaddling to a SleepSack wearable blanket when they?re ready to give up the swaddle.  I hope this helps!

I am using the correct size for my LO and I have wrapped so tightly that I can hardly velco it....oh and i even washed it hoping it would shrink, but she seems to escape it still and wont stay asleep if she does.
