High-Risk Pregnancy

Back in the hospital :(

Well I went to my MFM appt on Thursday afternoon, Last week at my appt I was 1.6 cm in cervical length and dilated 1-2 cm so I had been on bedrest at home the entire week. I was really hoping for a good appt and instead had an awful one. My cervical length is now 0.40 and Im dilated 3-4cm and 70% effaced and his head is literally right there, not to mention outside of the shortened cervix the beaking and funneling have gotten much worse. Sad

SO they sent me immediately over to the hospital and until this morning I was on Labor and Delivery because the doctors thought I was probably going to deliver this weekend but I haven't dilated any further so this morning I got moved to Antepartum where the doctors told me I can expect to be until I either deliver or until Im 36 weeks which is another 7 weeks away.

The really sad part is that this is Brayden's first christmas and I don't even get to be there to spend it with him, our hospital is under the flu season precautions so noone under 12 yrs old is allowed to visit so I can't even see him here either...it is so heartbreaking to be away from him but I keep telling myself its all for Ethan and I need to do what I have to in order to keep him safe.

  • So sorry to hear about what is happening.  I'm definitely sending prayers your way.  I know nothing may seem bright right now....but remember all the sacrifice we are doing now is for a better tomorrow.  Next Christmas, Ethan and Brayden will have lots of family time and presents :-)   But as for you...hang in there and I hope you the LO cooks as long as possible.

Apparently the hospitals here are really strict about this flu season protocol. Several of floors like L&D and Antepartum have a security desk outside the elevators where you have to check in ( they are closed floors??) and they are really strict about NOONE under 12 coming in. I asked yesterday about if he could come for just 10 mins especially since he has already had his flu shot and he isnt sick in ANY way but they said that "if they made an exception for me, they would have to for everyone....blah blah blah"

SO and my mom took tons of pictures of him opening his gifts though and at least I got to "talk" to him this morning on the phone so that was something :) Tonight SO is going to bring dinner to the hospital and we are just going to try and relax

Hope everyone is having a great christmas!

  • Bummer. I've been here in the hospital antepartum unit for over 3 weeks now from a shortened cervix, then I started bleeding and they admitted me when they saw it was due to being dilated 1 cm. I'm only at 1.5 cm now, but they haven't checked my cervix length since I got here....said that's not the issue; dilating is. I'm also 70%, so we are fairly close in situations. I'm 28 weeks, 1 day today.

Best of luck to you in your hospital stay. I hope we can both make it several more weeks before we deliver. Its hard, but you're right -- it's best for our babies to be safe and close to a NICU.  Hang in there!
