C-sections

Repost from PGAL 2nd time moms who have had a csection

Ok so I am really confused and quite concerned.  I have been having what I thought we BH contractions frequently but they have been getting more and more painful....

This Am at 4 I woke up as I have been in severe pain, like stabbing I think I am going to rip in half pain.  It is located parallel to my outside C section scar but a little bit higher.  I have been assuming these were contractions just wierd ones but it doesn't feel right.

Literally it feels like I am being cut with a knife.  I couldn't even stand straight up this morning.  I hobbled to the tub and slid in and have been in here for the last 4 hours.....

Is it normal for the second pregnancy to cause pain that severe in the C section site?  I am afraid the internal site is ripping open....I don't want to go to the hospital and them look at me like I am crazy and the OB is closed for Christmas.

I would feel alot better if anyone can tell me f they have experienced this too.  It isn't dull and doesn't feel like RLP at all.  It is sharp and intense and doesn't go away, though it will peak and then kinda dull and then spike again leaving me doubled over and panting.....Help please.....I haven't googled it b/c heavens knows I will think I am going to die or something after they get through with me...

  • If you are in that much pain, go the hospital.  I don't think that sitting in a hot bath for 4 hours is good for you or your LO either...raising body temperature can be harmful to your baby.

I have had 2 c-sections and having my third in 4 days...and I get some intense pain on either side of my incision when I roll or move wrong but it goes away after a minute or so...laying completely still and waiting for the tightness to go away.

If this pain is doubling you over though...it would be better to get it checked out...and if you have been having the pain for that long.  Better be safe than sorry.

  • I sincerely hope you went to the hospital! Sounds like contractions.

  • I can tell you that I had what i THOUGHT were BH, they were about 7 min apart but not very painful.............I went to the hospital and i was IN LABOR.  I had my baby via c-section that night......so I would NOT stay home and wait this out, you very well could be in active labor.  And you shouldn't be having stabbing pain like that, I'm sure it has nothing to do with anything internal going on from your prior c/s, I just think you are likely in labor!  Get to the hospital now and call your doctor on the way!!!!

  • I haven't experienced what you're describing this pregnancy at all.

However, I did experience something similar with my son, pre-c-section. My lower abdomen/uterine area was very tender and sore. I cried out if it was touched. I went to the dr and a thorough examination revealed all was fine. The only explanation I was offered was that baby might be putting weird pressure on some nerves.

I think this could be a possibility for you, but with the complication of the old c-section scar, I'd get it checked out. Another possibility might be a bladder infection.
