Re: Names from "Sisters"
A male nickname on a female is totally fine. They can change it if they hate it.
It's the "real" name as a boy's name that bothers me (Girl as a Ryan or Evan for example). There's no way to change that or make it better.
Really though, it just p*sses me off because there's about 5000 great girl names and 4 great boy names..lol.
Omg I remember that show. I always thought their names were so cool. Don't know if I love the actual names but I love the NNs
I love Theodora, but with the nickname Thea. It's fine that you hate it, but I don't think this name will harm a child, as you seem to suggest. It's a classic.
OP - I'm pretty much okay with all nicknames. They are not "official," and are often terms of endearment. I don't think a male-ish nickname is the same as a boy name on a girl.
I agree with pp that this sibset is overkill though. It worked because it was a TV show, but I'd totally
at it IRL.
I loved this show!
Don't forget the illegitimate half-sister Charlotte (Charlie) from Dad's affair.
Now that I think about it, the Dad was the one who named them and he had the affair. I think Dad was an ass!
But back then I thought their names were so cool and wanted to have girls named Alex, Teddy, Frankie and Georgie except that we would pretend and make up new sister names.
Margaret = Markie
Veronica = Ronnie
etc, etc
We could both go on forever about the things we like that the other doesn't like. For example, I don't think it would be vomit-worthy to do this with a sibset. You do. You like Theodora, I don't. Opinions are like assholes.
Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning...
"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
Mine's a pretty, little rosebud. Unless it's all stretched out from invasion. Then it ain't so pretty. Tightens up fairly quickly though, so I don't guess I've overdone it... yet...
THEODORA FOR THE WIN!!!!
Proud Mama to cleft cutie
Aw, I looooooved that show! And I always loved that their feminine names had male NNs. Now I think about it and it's kind of cheesy and forced for all four girls in a single family.
I think Georgie and Frankie are the cutest of the names.
A friend's SIL Theodora goes by Teda and I love it

Absolutely.
I prefer names like that- feminized traditional male names. They're my favorite. My Josephine is Jo sometimes but mostly Josie. I like Joey as a nn too.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
Yep. She was given her mother's maiden name as her first name and then gave her daughter the name Halsey (her maiden name).
1. I think that's a cute trend.
2.. Why do I even remember this?
I know someone with four daughters who did this in real life. There names are Alexandra (Alex), Danielle (Dani), Samantha (Sam), and Jessica (Jessi). Those male nicknames aren't quite as strong as the ones from the show, so I think it works a little better IRL than the "Sisters" names would, but it's still a bit much for me. One or two would be cute; four kids named that way is overkill.
Yeah, I think she was named after their maiden name.
I LOVED that show! Wish they would do re-runs of it...
