Im TERRIFIED!!!!!

I have 9 month old twins.  It took us about 9 months to get pregnant with them.  Dr. thought I had PCOS etc etc. Clomid = twins.  Yaddi yadda....we haven't gone on BC yet, but with the PCOS, and the fact that we have sex 2x a month, I figured well...what are the chances? Apparently quite high.  I just found out Im pregnant.  I will have 3 kids under 2 by time he/she is born, and Im absolutely terrified!! Anyone out there in the same boat? Any encouraging words?

Re: Im TERRIFIED!!!!!

  • I will have 3 under 2 as well when the twins arrive.  It's impossible to imagine how everything will work out, but you just have to trust that it will.  In my experience, full hands are better than empty ones.  :)  Best of luck to you!!

  • Yup I'm going to have 3 under 2 when these babies arrive... and we don't have any family local. I'm basically hoping and praying that family will be able to plan long visits spread out over the first few months to help us out, it's gonna be a handful!

The important thing to remember is, it IS survivable... it's all going to be a matter of developing a routine that works for your family.

  • Yep - my 3rd is due on my twins' second birthday.   Perhaps I'm crazy because I planned this.

It'll be hard, but it'll be so worth it watching them grow up together....

  • I'm in the same boat. DS is just about 9 months and we have twins due in July. I'm terrified as well. I just keep reminding myself I can do it. We're hoping our moms will come help out the first few weeks and DH has been approved to take 3 weeks off next summer at a drop of a hat. You can do it!

  • I had 3 under two and while I won't lie, it was a ton of work (and still is) I wouldn't want it any other way. Now that they are a bit older they can all play together. We just do everything as a group, toddler story time, eat the same things, nap the same times. It's only going to get easier too (until they are teenagers)!

  • Yep, our twins will be 18mo when the new baby is born and I am also terrified.  Some days I think, oh it will be fine, then days like today I feel legitimately nervous.  I feel kinda bad like no one is going to get a GREAT mom, they'll all get a half-assed mom.  We have no family nearby either and DH leaves for work before the babies are up and gets home after they're in bed.  He is an instructor pilot and teaches students to fly fighters so I'm pretty much on my own for days AND nights during the week.  He has to be super alert in the plane, the students try to kill him pretty much once a week, so no sleep deprivation for him.

I know we will survive, I'm just afraid its going to be really ugly.

We should start a 3 under two club!

  • our son will have just turned 3 when the twins arrive.

i know it wasnt planned but it's a great blessing...which im sure you are told over and over.  it's scary and will be really hard but try and think in the back of your mind that you are very lucky, esp. with the PCOS dx you know?  : )

  • I also had 3 under 2 when the twins arrived, but I feel like my situation was easier because I only had 1 mobile child!  I am sure you'll find one baby to be a piece of cake....lol
  • It look over 2 years to get PG with my twins (IVF). I have PCOS really bad. Doctor even told me when/if I want anymore kids to just to right back to him (no OB). WELL, when the twins were 4 MONTHS old I found out I was PG.......My kids are 1 year and 2 weeks apart. It is a LOT of work, but you do what you have to do. My family is crazy and busy but completely do able!!!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!

  • it happens often.. a friend of mine (IRL and who used to be ont he boards) got pg about 5 months after having her twins.

    you'll survive :)

my older son had just turned 2 when i had the twins. Life is good.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • Oh wow! I would've freaked out about getting pg any time in the first 2 years of my boys' lives so I feel for you. That said, I know many MoMs with 3 under 3--either twins plus one or one plus twins--and they have all survived so I know you can, too! Best of luck to you! I hope you'll have plenty of support and also plenty of responses and good advice from those who have BTDT!

  • I think we all need to paint this quote in large bold letters somewhere in our house:

"If you think my hands are full, you should see my heart!"

I think is a good reminder of how blessed we are and it might just calm some of the terror we might feel sometimes. I think your response to this news is completely warranted. We are all here to support you.

  • I'm in a similar situation.  I'm pregnant again and this baby will be born when the twins are just under 22 months old.  I know it will be hard work for the first little while but in a few years it will be a lot of fun with 3 kids so close in age.

  • We did IVF for our duo, and 4 months after they were born, I was pregnant. :) I was not happy (initially) to say the least. ;)  My twins were 13 months when my dd was born.  My dd was a tough cookie with sleeping, etc. I was and still am exhausted at times, but I honestly can't imagine it any other way.  She completes our family! It's now at the point where I can take them places by myself, they are more independent, etc.  It's going to be tough and crazy at times, but totally doable and fun!!!!!

  • If it makes you feel any better I'll have 4 under 2 when our triplets arrive but probably only for a couple of weeks :) I just keep telling myself that it's going to be ok- it has to be, we don't have a choice!
