Brown Spotting? I think!!!

Ok, so this is probably nothing, but last night I went to pee and noticed a tiny spot of brown on my underwear and a little bit when wiping (tmi, sorry!)

No other symptoms other than my usual aches and pains in my sides...

Nothing else during the night or this morning. Just the usual HEAVY discharge I've had throughout this whole pregnancy and it's all clear/whitish, no more brown.

Should I call? Or just monitor? I'm usually a "just monitor it" girl, but my friend's baby passed away 2 days ago after being alive for a day and I'm all freaked out now.

Re: Brown Spotting? I think!!!

  • It sounds like old blood. Did you have sex recently? When I had sex (haven't in like 5 weeks haha). I spotted a little after a few times. I wouldn't be worried unless there is more, or it's red/pink with belly discomfort. You can always put a call into your OB or the nurses there to get reassurance. I know about people losing their babies and being scared considering I work in a high risk L&D and before I went off work I would see mom's coming in at my gestational week and losing their LO's! It's very overwhelming but normal to put yourself in that situation. Hugs!!

I agree with this. Also were you overdoing it yesterday? That could be the cause too. If you can, I would try and rest and relax as much as possible with your feet up. If it makes you feel better, definitely call your on call doc. If it will ease your mind.

    SEX? What's that?!?!?! ;)

I think maybe it could be due to the stress of dealing with baby's death. She's my really good friend and we were at the hospital and my husband is helping with funeral arrangements.... It's very shocking and I'm trying not to stress myself out, but it's hard.

Thanks for the words, I think I'm going to relax and just see if it gets worse.

Yeah I've had a busy, emotional past 2 days. Doing more than I usually do... All this makes sense. Thanks so much ladies for easing my mind! I love running things by this board before calling the doctor :)

  • I had a teeny bit of brown show up about 3 weeks ago when I wiped, and it freaked me out because I hadn't spotted at all since my BFP...I called my OB and they said a little brown discharge was nothing to really worry about, he said if it was red then that was when they would need to see me. Also if you have no other symptoms (i.e. cramping, etc.) I would probably not worry and just monitor, and like PP said just try to take it easy this weekend. I'm very sorry about your friend's loss :-(
