How long can early labor last?

I've been googling and they say it can last days? Labor woke me up this morning and I've been in early labor all day. Anyone else go through this? When I read it can last days I assume for your first not your second which should be faster, right? ugh.

Re: How long can early labor last?

  • my bff was induced yesterday (41 weeks), she had been having timeable contractions (4 min apart lasting 2-3 hours, but never going past that 4 min mark) on and off for the past week.

Nice. I was at 4 min apart this morning but now I'm at 10 minutes, though they are stronger and longer now. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have DS to look after. I really hope this does not go on for days.

  • I'm on call to take my friend's DS when she goes into labor, she's been having contractions since Friday.  Her due date isn't for another week.

  • Every 5 minutes for about a week, then every 3 minutes for another week before DD was born. On the plus side, once I went from early to active labour everything was super quick and pretty easy.
  • Mine started Friday morning and didn't stop until Monday morning when I got induced.  Sorry, I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear.  :)

I had timetable cx for weeks, under 5min apart for almost 2wks and was at 3cm by my 39wk appt. actually went to the hospital when they were 4.5min apart but got sent home, about a week & a half before I actually delivered.  But like m_m said, once it really started happening it went fast!  Water broke at 5pm, baby born at 1130 - piece of cake!
