Two days before Christmas is probably NOT the best day to finish shopping for LO. OMG - the whole experience was overwhelming. I intend on BF, but wanted a couple bottles just in case there are issues... which ones? which size? which brand? nipple shape? is it really this complicated?
I've got a ton of clothes, but no bassinet... the next hurdle; rocking? co-sleeper? why is this one $60 more than the other? what color? things are just getting harder as I have to make each decision with DH standing there. He wasn't impatient or rude or anything, but he's not going to make a decision for me - he's been trying to keep the peace lately.
Then, DH calls his sister, trying to be helpful, asking her, What are the key things we need for the first month. GREAT! Another list! Now, on his sister's demand, I'm picking out boppy pillows, BF covers, burp rags, and pacifiers.
I think we got through it. Seems like hours and our life savings - but officially, there isn't a box unchecked on the baby list. Let's just hope it stays that way.
Re: Overwhelmed with Baby Gear
You went baby shopping for evrything two days before Christmas? Are you crazy??? Hahaha.
Good job...I detest crowded stores and I would have failed miserably. Especially because it is so overwhelming making the 8 million decisions that go into buying our babies the perfect things! You have no idea how many store trips and how long I spent staring at bottles. Hours, I tell you, hours.

I feel like we still have a lot to buy! We have like 4 bottles total lol. But, as long as everything goes well with BFing, I'm not planning on introducing the bottle until she's a month old. Same thing with a pacifier. (This was recommended to me in a baby care class) I still have not washed any clothes, bibs, receiving blankets, bottles, etc. And we don't have her car seat or stroller..... I'm ordering those on Tuesday.
I would have never made it out of the store with everything haha. I always get the urge to go shopping, get to the store, then I want to go home, before anything is decided or picked out.
THIS! I brought DH just so he would MAKE me decide and end the countless trips to the store with no progress.
I took my bestie with me to register for everything. I told her I needed the bare necessities to be able to have the baby and survive the first year (I'm BF too). We went through and registered for everything in an hour. Then after a week of sitting on that, I went online and added some "wants" for the baby. Turned out to be the best decision ever. We have everything we absolutely need for the baby in the first year and it was pretty much headache free.
I think the worst part was trying to decide whether to get gender neutral everything or stuff specifically for a boy. We did a mix of both depending on what it was. Big expensive stuff can be used with either boy/girl, smaller things and clothes were geared towards boy. :-)
Congrats on finishing shopping! And don't worry...if LO arrives and you find you don't need it, return it then.
I bet it's a relief to have all that done!
So just wondering. . .what bassinet/co-sleeper did you decide on? This is my biggest dilemma right now.
It's so funny how different ppl can be with this stuff. I swear I feel like I've been picking stuff out since I found out I was pregnant lol.
Congrats on finishing up - now it's time to sit and wait for baby!
We are waiting for the after christmas sales.... IL's suggestion. Ug....
So i will be 39 weeks, shopping in after christmas craziness, and using money from family christmas gifting.
