Getting older kids in and out of car after csection

I will have my niece and DD1 to get in and out of our SUV with once I am able to drive.  My DR said it's normally 2 weeks until you can drive.  So, how hard is it going to be to help the girls into their seats and bend to buckle them?  I have a third row that DD1 and my niece normally sit in but I am going to try and get all three girls in the second row so I won't have has bend bending to do.

  • I'm 9 days pp and I can bend just fine.  The only thing I would have a problem with is maybe the lifting of the older kids.  I would be scared to open up the wound.  I guess at your 2 week check up with your dr they will tell you if they think you are able to do those things.

  • I started driving at 9 days after csection, once I was off the pain meds. I have a small SUV and have my 38lb son climb into it himself and up into his seat, then I just have to strap him in. He can also jump out on his own w/ me holding his hands for balance. I still have him do this and I am 15 days postpartum

This is what I do with DD - she climbs into my car and I just do the straps.

  • If your SUV is to high up for the girls to get into on their own, I would consider getting a small stepstool to put in your car. That you can pull out for them to get in on their own. I was told nothing more then the baby for the first month, even after that you need to watch what you are lifting so you don't open up your incision. That was 2 years ago with my first. But I have already been told I won't be able to lift my 2 year old and he needs to get use to walking and doing things for himself.
