Reflux mamas -- When does it get better?

DD just started Prevacid last night and I was wondering how long it takes to kick in.  I wasn't expecting her to be happy and sunshiney 5 minutes later but I was just curious as to when I can expect to see a difference.  I just feel so bad watching her go through all this discomfort. I can't even lie her on her back with out her wheezing and choking.

Re: Reflux mamas -- When does it get better?

  • when we switched meds for Brendan from Reglan and Zantac to Reglan and Prevacid the Doctors said to give it at least a month.? It will get better, the crying/arching/grunting the spit up for us didn't lessen until we switche formulas.? ?

  • When we switched from Zantac to Prevacid the improvement was pretty quick -- within a day, I would say. Hang in there ... sometimes it takes a bit before you find the right medicine in the right dosage. Definitely keep your pedi in the loop.

  • When we found the winning combo (Similac Sensitive, Zantac, and cereal in the bottle) we could see a huge difference within a few days.  Hang in there... I hope it works soon!!
