At home ear ache remedies?

Does anyone know of any? I am not sure if it is an ear infection or just because of teeth coming in. I plan on bringing him to the doctor tomorrow morning but I have heard of at home remedies too. Anyone ever try one that worked?

Re: At home ear ache remedies?

  • If you have one, take a potato and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time until its warm (not hot or cooked). A zap or two should do. Then wrap it in a towel and hold it to his ear. The moist heat will relieve pain and stay warmer longer than a hot towel. If you have a rice or oatmeal heat pack, it works the same way. Otherwise, Advil will also help with the pain. Hope he feels better!

  • My mom use to put salt in a sock, microwave it until its warm, and put that against my ear. I don't know why it works (something to do with vapors) but it works.

  • There are drops sold at natural foods stores.

  • Ear Oil.  Either Garlic w/ Mullein or Wally's brand which has both plus other oils so it's not so stinky.   We do it after every bath and whenever DS is sick so it doesn't end up in his ears.  He has only had one infection (knock wood...he is getting over a virus right now).
