Maisie sounds like it is a nickname. It does not sound like a name for an adult. Can you imagine a Dr. Maisie Jones, Head of Neurosurgery? Neither can I.
An ex-co-worker named her daughter Mazy and called her Z for a long time. I think she calls her Mazy now though. I think it's cute, although i do agree that it would be a tougher adult name.
I think Maisie is a very cute name, and could transition to adulthood just fine. But I wouldn't worry about a nn as it's pretty short and 'nicknamey' already.
I think it's a great Scottish name but does sound somewhat like a nn so I don't think it would have one...maybe May but not needed.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
Well...I know two Maisie's...but they are both dogs. It's a cute name, but you'll run into others with dogs named Maisie, so that's something to know in advance.
Maisie is a nickname for Margaret. Why would you need a nickname for Maisie. Her friends will naturally call her Mais (like maze) anyway.

My IVF Journey
My DHs Grandmother was named Macie. She aged just fine with this name. She also has two great grandchildren named after her. I think it is a nice name and I can see an adult with that name. I know plenty of adults with what people on this board consider 'cutsie' names and they are doing just fine. A name that ends in 'ie' or 'y' does not set the child up for failure in the future.
It was DH's grandmother's name-- we contemplated using it as a nickname for Margaret, but ended up choosing something else. I think it's cute and will age fine, as a nn or full name.
Re: Maisie?
It's ok. The name is cutesy enough, it doesn't need a NN IMO.
this and I think of maisie mouse.
