Toddlers: 24 Months+

AW: It worked. It really worked.

Desperate and tired of getting up at 445 for the day, I made a last ditch effort and got the "Ok to Wake" clock.  DS is language delayed, wakes hysterically and I didn't think it would work.  It was fun on night 1 but then he realized what I was doing and shrieked for 3 days if I walked near it.  And then he asked for it and 3 of the last 4 days he sleeps until after 6 and is happy.  I am over the moon- it is clear he just wasn't sleeping enough.   I am so relieved!

  • How old is your son?    Is he in a crib or bed?

My DD1 wakes up around 5 am each day and won't go back to sleep, but she's clearly very tired within a few hours of waking up.   We are also tired of being up so early (esp. on the weekends).

At their 2 yr appt. Pediatrician recommended going to him but not letting him out of his room until a set time.  So that did well enough, I'd grab him and lay down on the floor with him, he;d sometimes go back to sleep.  Others he;d piss me off by flopping and climbing on me, kicking me in the face etc. and  it was no good.  But it kind of set the stage for setting parameters, rather than- *BING!!!!  I'm awake gonna go eat dress poop play with my trains and cars and maybe jump on the trampoline and make moise and wake my sisters*

He is still in the crib.  Was going to switch this Christmas break but now that things are tentatively really good, gonna hold off.

Good to know!  My ds is language delayed too, and although sleeping in, has never been a problem for him, I'm anticipating some issues when he's moved to a toddler bed.

I've been considering getting the clock for him.  Thanks for the feedback.

  • My son is language delayed too and sleeping in or at all isn;t a strong point for him I'll have to try and find that. He wakes up anywhere from 430-530 usually and then miserable either at wake up or with in a few hours.I'l have to give it a try.
