OMG I want to hurt my mom. So instead I am coming here to vent.
I love my mom but sometimes I wonder where her brain went. I was doing some work on the computer and Emme comes in and tells me, "Mommy! Look I got coffee! It's yummy." And me being me thought that she was pretending and my mom had given her oj, or at the very worst chocolate milk. The room was dark and I didn't really look in her cup (stupid me). So I played along. An hour later I see 2 cups on E's highchair and one has light brown liquid in it that wasn't choc. milk.
"Momma, did you really give Emme coffee?" "Well, of course I did. It was only a couple of tablespoons with LOTS of milk. Nothing bad"
Due to the fact that my mom and her husband are here for another week I just gave her a very ugly look and poured out the drink. I cannot believe she thought it was OK to give Emme ANY coffee. I went and locked myself in the bathroom so I wouldn't hurt her.
Re: Mom gave E coffee?!?!
Mine does too. I don't know why she thought it was ok.
My niece would sometimes get a tablespoon of coffee mixed in with lots of milk. I don't see an issue, but that's just me.
My POV. I can understand why you're upset, but I wouldn't be.
Meh, annoying but not rage worthy.
Also, why would it be considered "chocolate milk at the VERY WORST"?
This.

I'm in the "not a big deal" camp. You're really freaking out that badly about a couple tablespoons in an entire cup of milk?
My kid has chocolate milk at least a couple times a week, dessert a few times a week, taco bell or mcdonalds, and if I'm drinking coffee/cappuccino she gets a couple sips. She also eats carrots, broccoli, cheese, yogurt, etc.. in a balanced diet with a multivitamin.
Everything in moderation, and honestly I'm one of those parents that says if you deprive your kit from certain things that's when they go crazy over it later.
My two cents.
this only b/c it was a fairly common occurrance in my dad's family to give toddlers coffee w/ LOTS of milk in it - couple tablespoons of coffee to a half cup or more of milk. fwiw, it didn't stunt his growth (the shortest of the siblings is my dad's 6'0" sister) and he never suffered from any learning disabilities either ( add or adhd).
dd knows what coffee is, she knows what it smells like (and LOVES the smell too) but i have yet to give her any ... fully leaded starbucks french roast is NOT meant for toddlers.
