I got DH an Iphone 4S for xmas and I'm researching cases. I'm fine with ordering online and having it not get her until after xmas. I want something relatively durable, he can sometimes be kind of careless with his phone, but at the same time, I don't want all the bulk of an otterbox. I did some research last night and found the Ivyskin Wrangler which initially sounded great but then I read some pretty mixed reviews. Anyone with personal experience with this one or have another one that you would recommend?
Re: iphone case recs
I have an otterbox impact case which is not as bulky as the defender. It's basically a thicker silicone (doesn't have the hard case like the defender) and wraps around the front bottom and top. Basically looks kist like the Ivyskin Wrangler. It survives drops (on laminate flooring) by my toddler all the time, so I love it. I got it from Amazon for $12 or $13. I've also had iFrogz cases which were also good, but they didn't have as many color options.
In general, I'm a fan of thick silicone cases. They tend to have more padding in the corners and absorb impact on falls.
That reminds me that I had a Switcheasy Colors and wasn't too much of a fan. It comes off way too easily (I guess living up to its name) which DD would do. In fact she was holding onto it in the stroller on a walk one day and threw it off the side and it was lost. That Blossom one sure is cool though!!

My sister and BIL have the life proof case. It's freaking awesome and super thin. It's water resistant and strong. I want one.

I'm really rough on my phones (think, baby throwing it from the shopping cart to the concrete floors at Costco), and I've always used the Speck Candyshell. It's rubber on the inside and hard on the outside. I saw some videos on YouTube that really impressed me.
Anyways, I had the same 3Gs for over 2 years and there's not a scratch on it. I went through 3 cases, though, but that was a flaw in the case for the old phones. I've heard it doesn't happen with the new models. Anyways, I love the case - it's saved my phone more times than I can count! I usually find them on Amazon the cheapest, around $18 for the new ones.
Avoid the Kate Spade silicon cases at the Apple Store. They're super cute but they don't fit properly, and seem to get looser over time. I thought I'd be able to deal with it at first, but now I'm ready to buy a new case less than 2 months after getting it.
ETA: Sorry, I just realized you said it's for your DH. Unless he's very different than mine he probably wouldn't have been interested in a Kate Spade case anyway :P
